Egypt forms one of the world’s oldest cultures. Accordingly, it is filled with diverse rich touristic sights spanning all over its territory. Being a transcontinental country it also has diverse scenery and natural resources ranging from vast deserts, to top beach destinations with world ranked scuba diving sights. The diversity of old meets new and western meets Mediterranean also extends to Egypt’s gastronomy and leisure options.
Rekindling its glory, Egypt is established as one of the top countries for industrial growth, education, and research in the region.
One prominent educational institution currently growing in the New Administrative Capital of Egypt in Cairo is the German International University (GIU). The GIU is a German university operating on Egyptian land based on cultural agreements between the Federal Republic of Germany and the Arab Republic of Egypt. The university is founded in partnership with a large number of German universities of applied sciences and the German University in Cairo. It offers undergraduate and graduate (M.Sc. and Ph.D.) degrees in diverse fields including Engineering, Informatics, Economics, and Business Administration, Biotechnology, and Fashion Design.

LOGISTICS
1. Air and Local Transport
Most international airlines fly to Cairo. For more information please check:

The GIU will provide local transportation from the proposed hotels to the university and all other associated events.
2. Currency
The Egyptian currency unit is the Pound (EGP). The exchange rate can be found here: http://www.xe.com/ucc. Foreign currencies are exchangeable at the banks, airport, hotels and exchange offices. International credit cards are accepted in major establishments. ATM and currency exchange facilities are available at the hotels and in most public areas.
3. Time Zone
Egyptian Time (Cairo) is 2 hours ahead of Coordinated Universal Time (UTC+2).
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
1. Visa and travel requirements
All visitors must hold a valid passport or travel document with a minimum validity of 6 months from date of departure.
- Citizens from the following countries are not required to obtain a visa when traveling to Egypt:
Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Macao, UAE, Hong Kong, Kuwait, Oman
- CItizens of the following countries can obtain visa upon arrival:
Armenia, Georgia, New Zealand, South Korea, Australia, Japan, Norway, Ukraine, Belarus, Macedonia, Russia, USA, Canada, EU Countries, Malaysia, Serbia, Vatican
- Citizens from other countries need to obtain an entry visa through Egyptian Embassies or consulates in their countries prior to their visit. We can provide you with a visa facilitation letter upon request.
2. PCR and Vaccination (Dec 2021)
Negative COVID-19 RT-PCR

Participants must have a printed negative COVID-19 RT-PCR test taken at most 96 hours before departure of the last direct flight to Egypt.

The test must be based on a nasal or oral swab.

The test result must have a QR code.
COVID-19 vaccination certificate

Participants with a COVID-19 vaccination certificate are requested to show that they were fully vaccinated at least 14 days before departure.

Vaccines accepted are : AstraZeneca (Vaxzevria), Jansen, Modera

(Spikevax)., Pfizer-BioNTech (Comirnaty), Sinopharm, Sinovac or Sputnik V.

The certificate must be in Arabic, French or English.
Passengers traveling from other countries:
Will need to have a COVID-19 vaccination certificate or a negative COVID 19 RT PCR test certificate
PCR test upon departure
We will provide onsite PCR test service for all traveling participants
3. Vaccination requirements
The government of Egypt requires proof of yellow fever, Polio, Cholera, Ebola and Corona if you are arriving from a country with risk of these diseases:
